Warp & Woof - Music & Sound Design for TV, Film, Apps & Games

Check out Warp & Woof for some recent sound design and bespoke composition projects I've been involved with. The company has recently been pitching for some high profile ad campaigns, and along with myself, the team features Adam McCausland & David Baxter who have a lot of professional sound work under their belts too.

We're very approachable guys, hard working and each have an impressive portfolio of work that shows this off. We're keen to get involved in more film, TV and digital media work. Give us a shout!

Record Store Gay - Outhouse, Dublin

I was invited along to the Record Store Gay event to play some of my 'LGBT themed' songs, I decided to put some of them up on a new bandcamp page with the hope of using it as promotion to get more solo gigs around Ireland. I played around 20 minutes of songs including 2 cover versions: Gay Messiah by Rufus Wainwright and my hilarious grand finale of It's Raining Men by The Weather Girls. Fun times!

Hexxed - Hidden Graphs EP - Music Production

Hexxed went to Manorpark Studios to record our Hidden Graphs EP, 8th & 9th of November 2012. We returned again for a Vocal Comping and Stems Mix session, 19th January 2013.

Once I had the Stems, I put on my Music Production hat and began adding synths, samples, electronics, audio edits and mix tweaks, working with the rest of the band between January 19th right up to mid-March to finish my production work before taking everything back to Neal Calderwood for final mixing and mastering.

The final mixes of the Hidden Graphs EP were completed on Saturday 23rd March 2013.

Interestingly this date marked the anniversary of our mountain hike up Slieve Bernagh in Co. Down, which the band did together in both 2011 and 2012. I think everyone agreed that finishing our EP in 2013 was just as good as conquering a huge landmass, so we didn't go up this year (the treacherous snow also factored into the decision).

The band is nearly ready to unleash this ambitious collection of songs, with final decisions being made on artwork and release date.

Alternative Energies - Ruby Colley & DU Dance

Alternative Energies is an evocative and sensory intergenerational dance performance by women and girls, aged 13 to 83 years, from across communities in Belfast and Ballymena.
It links time and energy in a reflective way, using set, sound and visuals to bring the outside world inside. Set in the magnificent surroundings of St. Anne’s Cathedral, this inspired dance piece is woven together by a commissioned score composed by violinist, Ruby Colley, and performed live by a string quartet and choir.
The project is delivered by DU Dance (NI), a dance development company based in Belfast and funded by The Queen’s Silver Jubilee Trust. www.dudanceni.org

DEATH (on a shoestring) - Accidental Theatre

DEATH (on a shoestring) - Accidental Theatre

http://www.accidentaltheatre.co.uk/death-on-a-shoestring/

Accidental Theatre invites you on a darkly funny adventure to a politically incorrect afterlife at their first appearance in the Belfast Festival.

When Cecilia Malarkey MBE, head of a political correctness watchdog, is accidentally allowed into Heaven, she is disgusted by the lack of politically correct behaviour in Paradise. Refusing someone entry because they're not Christian? Religious discrimination! Malarkey sets about overhauling Heaven's values system, but as it becomes more politically correct, Heaven seems decidedly less heavenly – and soon angels and demons are working together to get the afterlife back in order and Cecilia out!

A hilarious black comedy from writer Dave Kinghan, Accidental Theatre presents this escapade into the afterlife, combining music and live performance to excite and thrill all the way there and back.

I Am My Own Wife - Primecut Productions

Prime Cut Productions and the MAC present I Am My Own Wife.
A one woman show, performed by a man – one actor, thirty six characters and one incredible life story.
Fascinating, playful and utterly compelling, I Am My Own Wife tells the story of the choices people make in order to survive. Based on a true story and inspired by interviews conducted by playwright Doug Wright, over several years, I Am My Own Wife is the real-life tale of German transvestite Charlotte Von Mahsldorf. Charlotte lived openly as a cross-dresser for almost her entire life under two of the most conformist regimes of the 20th century, Nazism and Communism.
Doug Wright heard of Charlotte’s story and was mesmerised from the beginning. He contacted Charlotte and they first met in Germany in 1993. It was here that Doug began to uncover the amazing story of Charlotte’s life as a sexual libertarian, compulsive collector of 19th century antiques, German celebrity and indeed some of the darker revelations of her survival during the occupation. An enigmatic and morally ambiguous heroine, Doug quickly realised that the story had the makings of a winning Broadway play.
The play has received much praise and multiple awards, receiving both the Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 2004.
Award-winning theatre company Prime Cut Productions, together with the MAC, is bringing the fascinating story to Belfast for the first time.

S.A.D.F.A.Y. SUMMER SALE!

Hi there folks, I've just gone and done something which could be considered more than a little bit crazy:
I've just repriced every album in my Song A Day For A Year project down to a measly £1 per download.
Let's get that into perspective shall we?
That's £1 (100 pennies) about the price of a packet of biscuits, for a download of around 30 original songs, written, recorded, mixed and mastered by myself. Not only that, you can choose to download the songs in any digital format you desire (such as fully lossless wav or FLAC)
Each month last year I put my songs into monthly collections, so there are now 12 'albums' that contain the entire 365 songs I wrote and recorded in 2011.
And there's more! Many of the album downloads contain bonus hidden extras (like music videos, lyrics, artwork, remixes, re-edits of other songs etc.)
You can download my entire anthology of work from 2011 (365 songs + extras) for the insanely low price of £12!!
Yep. I have actually lost my sanity tokens!!
What the heck are you waiting for? Get on over there now and take advantage of this limited offer before I see the error of my ways!!

Also, for those looking a little dabble into the world of the Song A Day For A Year project, I've repriced the TOP TEN album to £1 also. That means you get to download and own a copy of the 10 most popular tracks from 2011, including my first collaboration with Duke Special and the tracks I made with Tony Wright and Robyn G. Shiels.
I think I've said enough here. I think you people know you're getting a crazy amount of amazing music for ridiculously low amounts of cashflow. No time like the present! Get on over to the SADFAY Bandcamp page and get yourself some quality audio for stupid cheap!
Just a final note... If any of you wonderfully generous and charitable people see these shenanigans as a sign I've definitely tipped over into looney bin land, you can consider donating more than £1 for any album you decide to download.
There was a time I was selling these albums for £7 a pop, which considering that each album has 30 songs (give or take), is still silly good value.
This is truly a limited offer, so take advantage of it while you can! Spread the word! Marty's gone nuts! Get his music cheapity cheap cheap now!
Cheers! ^_^

Intervention - Accidental Theatre - 9th & 10th June 2012

Two performance artists are thrown into a cell after disrupting a rival’s final performance.  As they blame each other for their stunt going wrong, paranoia sets in and they begin to question each other’s motives for staging the attack. But everything is not as it seems and they slowly become aware that they have a further role to play in their rival’s last great work. Who will have the last word – and does anyone out there care?

Song A Day For A Year - Culture Night, Belfast

Song A Day For A Year project at Culture Night, Belfast. 23rd September 2011

"So tonight was Culture Night in Belfast and what better way to spend it, than to set up a microphone, laptop and let the people of this fare city record themselves making noises, singing, screaming, playing music, laughing and generally going buck mad for a SADFAY Special?

Big thanks to everyone who contributed, I did my best to use a little bit of everyone's wonderful contributions. You all made this little music producers life feel rather warm and fuzzy and wonderful tonight! Though from the hours of recording, certain edits had to be made, so I hope you all hear yourselves in there somewhere and I hope you all enjoy!

Also, a big thanks to Cafe Italia who helped me set up and let me borrow their gazebo while trying to deal with their own hordes of hungry Culture Night customers! And a massive thanks to Rachel and Steve for the support! Biggest, awesomest thanks to the absolute legend that is David Braniff, for being the wrangler master and coaxing hundreds of people into laying down some sort of Culture Night message for tonight's song (and cheers for the lift home)!!!

Enjoy

Cheers ^_^"

Accidental Theatre Presents, The Writers' Room, by Michael Shannon.

Once a week, four very different writers meet up to rip apart each others work. Kirk can't quit setting his stories in space. Sweet M.T.'s one-woman show is missing a good monologue. Ryan hasn't the guts to confront life on or off the page. And Beth is desperately searching for an ending.

Today when they arrive for their meeting a script is sitting on the table waiting for them. It's called 'The Writers' Room'. It's about four writers, has a dead body and not many pages left.

Doctor Lilt - "Gun Shaped Eggs" album

Doctor Lilt releases "Gun Shaped Eggs" album on 01.01.11.

Available to buy on Amazon / iTunes / Bandcamp (cheapest) now!

"Living up to his namesake, Belfast based composer Martin Byrne – aka Dr Lilt – has concocted a lively mixture of playful, innovative and damn funky glitchtronic goodness with this, his second LP. Opener ‘Cheese Slices’ immediately sets the eclectic tone, strutting out like the bass-heavy, souped-up theme tune of some long forgotten Seventies cop show." - AUmagazine

"Premier Dodge", Doctor Lilt's first album, is also available in online stores!

"Chilled out, ambient trip hoppery, in an R2DJ-esk way, is melded into bizarre anime glitchtronica that veers from thrashing techno to guttural drum and bass. But for every distorted, synthesised stab there’s a simple string or guitar hook floating around in the composition to shed some light on the dark. ...Premier Dodge is undoubtedly the product of an imaginative and talented mind."
